The name Cottingley Bar remains but the building has long gone.

Situated near the pseudo-Elisabethan mansion of Bankfield, the old toll booth was built in 1823 and was actually relocated from its original site at Cottingley Bridge.

The modern day Cottingley Bar site is currently undergoing a massive change as extensive road works are being carried out on the much debated relief road.
