Cottingley Mill started as a tannery but was converted into a worsted mill after Bradford became the centre of wool manufacture during the Industrial Revolution. |
In the late 1990s, the Mills were marked for demolition as plans for a major £3 million business initiative were revealed. In the true spirit of the Cottingley community, a petition was raised to save the Mills and soon after the property company owner decided to scrap the plans. |
The blueprints were redesigned and the Mills were spared. Now a high tech science park, it has already provided work for the local community. |
